At A Different Image tattoo studio, we take pride in our craft and want to give you the best tattoo
experience possible. We'd greatly appreciate the same respect when caring for our artwork!
Your tattoo is guaranteed up to 30 days from your appointment. We'll touch up areas free of charge.
After the first month you'll be subject to fees at the artist's discretion. Following our instructions
for taking care of your new artwork protects you from infection and poor healing. We're professional
tattoo artists — we know what good and bad aftercare looks like. The more honest you are with us,
the more caring and accommodating we can be.
Leave your bandage on for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 2 hours.
(Unless told otherwise by your artist)
WASH YOUR HANDS before touching your tattoo.
Wash your tattoo with warm water and an antibacterial soap. We recommend using Dial or a fragrance-free soap.
Rinse with cold water. Repeat these steps 2 to 4 times a day for at least 3 to 5 days.
After washing your new tattoo, pat it dry with a clean, disposable paper towel. Allow
your tattoo to breath for 10-15 minutes before applying your ointment. We recommend using Aquaphor healing ointment.
When applying ointment, massage it in thoroughly — like lotion — and use a clean paper towel to pat
away any extra shine. This is important! It allows your skin to breath as it heals.
Continue using ointment for 3 to 5 days. This can vary up to 7 days or longer, depending on the amount of work recieved.
If you're taking care of your new artwork properly, you'll begin to notice your tattoo peel. This is new tissue
growth and completely normal.
When the tattoo begins to peel, switch your ointment to a fragrance-free lotion, such as Lubriderm or Curel.
Apply lotion consistently for at least 7 to 10 days.
It's a good idea to continue using lotion for the life of your tattoo. This helps prevent the tattoo from
looking dull, fading, or drying out.
Do NOT pick, scratch, or let anyone touch your tattoo.
Do NOT tan. Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least one month. If you must expose your
skin to the sun, use a high-rated SPF sunblock — otherwise your new tattoo WILL fade.
Do NOT submerge your tattoo in any body of water or let water beat directly on the tattoo.
Do NOT swim, or use hot tubs and bathtubs for at least one month. (Showers are fine!)
